Modern Vending Machines

Since the trend nowadays is everything instant - instant messaging, instant notification, instant noodles - we should have expected the next evolution of vendos or vending machines


Here is the new generation vending machine from Coca-Cola.  We have this in our office, but this picture was taken from the Cebu Mactan International Airport.  The major difference is that the drink bottle does not fall anymore.  It is "fetched" by a "robot".  It was pretty cool the first time I saw it.  3-5 Pesos more expensive than usual price, but it is worth the experience for the 1st time.  try it.

I was in the US last week, and was also delighted to see something I see for the first time...a vending machine with Credit Card.  And this is by Pepsi.  First look, I thought it was really cool, sometimes you really do not have coins or even money.  But on second thought, a pepsi bottle is 1.50 dollars, hmmm worth the credit card transaction?

And then at the Chicago airport, another interesting vending machine.  Courtesy of Best Buy.  I heard about it, but it was a delight to see. 

A vending machine that sells and dispenses iPhones, iPods and gadgets.  Sobrang cool!  And of course you can pay using your credit card.

Innovations like these make you wonder what is next?  I heard in Japan, practically everything is vendo-ized.  Need to plan a trip there to get new ideas.

It's more fun in the Philippines

Walang pinalagpas na araw ang Pinoy netizens para sa pag-re-ak sa bagong slogan ng Department of Tourism: "It's more fun in the Philippines".  Nagkalat na ang mga comments, pagpuri, o panlalait sa twitter o facebook o sa mga blogs.

Naglabas nga ng article ang Inquirer tungkol dito.  At sa inquirer nga galing ang collage picture sa ibaba.  Natawa naman ako sa "Death by My Way".  Pero sobrang cute naman ng Tweeting na poster.

Para sa akin, OK naman ang bagong slogan.  It could be a very good base platform for future initiatives and idea.  Pag meron kaming mga foreigners na bisita, and comment nila parati ay "I had fun in the Philippines".  So I guess, may katuwiran naman ang slogan.

Ang isa sa mga puna tungkol sa "it's more fun in the Philippines" ay ang panggagaya nito sa 1950s slogan ng Switzerland.  (ang picture sa ibaba ay galing din sa Inquirer). 

Nakapunta na ko sa Switzerland at sobrang ganda talaga dun.  Sobrang high-tech, sobrang efficient, sobrang mahal.  Pero naman, di ko ata masasabing fun sa Switzerland. 

Tingin ko bagay na bagay ang More fun sa Pilipinas.  Kasi totoo naman.  We are fun-loving people.  And the whole Philippines is mostly fun.  Of course may exceptions, lagi naman.  Well, sabihin na rin natin na ang exception na yan ay tulad ng Sun-tanning sa Switzerland.  Gosh!!!

Approve sakin ang bagong slogan.  It can be a great springboard for more DOT activities.

GLAMPING, SPARTY at kung anu-ano pa

Narinig nyo na ba ang GLAMPING at SPARTY?  Ako kasi last week lang.  Sumisikat na rin kasi sa Pilipinas ang mga ito. 

GLAMPING = Glamorous Camping
Di ba pag nag-ca-camping ka ang dala mo ay isang knapsack kung saan andun ang canned goods, mga damit, abrelata.  Tapos aakyat kayo ng bundok o pupunta ng gubat tapos dun magpi-pitch ng tent.  Well, iba na ngayon.  Kasi nga ang mga tents ngayon nakatayo na.  Di na ikaw ang maglalagay.

Ano bang sleeping bag?  e may kama nga sa tent.  At ang ibang tent ay aircon pa.  At pag nag-GLAMPING ka meron ka pang Butler o waiter.  Wala nga lang TV, kasi naman e di hotel na yon kung meron.

Hanep naman, kakaiba na talaga ngayon.

Wala pa masyado sa Metro Manila na GLAMPING sites.  Sabagay saan ba naman dun puwede mag-GLAMP.  Ang pinakasikat na GLAMPING sites ay sa:

SPARTY = SPA PARTY.  So magpa-party kayo sa SPA

Apparently mga 5 years na pala ito sa Pilipinas.  Simple lang ang trip.  Imbes na mag-party kayo sa bar, restaurant o sa bahay - magpaparty kayo sa pamamagitan ng sabay-sabay na pag-spa.  Dati raw madalas sa party ang exclusive girls.  Pero ngayon meron na ring mga co-ed SPARTY.

Math Alarm

(inspired by Gab, ang aking pamangkin na matalino at halimaw sa Math.  Bday nya kasi nung Jan 6)

Eto ang prototype ng Math Alarm.  App sa Android at sa Google. 

Ganito: mag-aalarm ang telepono mo.  Tapos bago mo patayin ang alarm o kaya i-snooze, kelangan mo munang solve ang math equation ng tama.  Pag mali, hindi hihinto ang alarm. 

Actually di mo na nga magagamit ang telepono mo hanggang di mo masagot ang math problem.  So para talaga ito sa mga mahirap magising sa umaga.  Tingin ko bago mo sagot ang question, talagang magigising ka na.
