The economic downturn hasn't persuaded everyone to pinch pennies. Philippines President Maria Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was at Le Cirque the other night with a large entourage enjoying the good life, even though the former comptroller of her country's armed services, Carlos Garcia, was found guilty earlier this year of perjury and two of his sons were arrested in the US on bulk cash-smuggling charges. Macapagal-Arroyo ordered several bottles of very expensive wine, pushing the dinner tab up to $20,000.

Ayon sa daily tribune, eto daw ang mga pinag-o-order ni GMA at ng mga kasama niya:

- 11 bottles of Krug Champagne worth $510 (~P20,000) per bottle
- Osetra Caviar worth $1,400 for five ounces
- Chef's Tasting Menu worth $4,500 times 25 orders
- 3-Course Chef's Seasonal menu worth $1,450 for 25 orders

Prime dry aged strip steak.

Meron ding umorder ng:
3 pieces of whole roasted fish worth $135
3 pieces of roasted chicken for $117

Ang total bill ay $15,050, tapos may 12% tax and 20% tip na $3,010. So ang total ay $19,866 or ~ 1 Million Pesos.

Sa dalas ng byahe ni GMA, ngayon lang kaya nangyari ito? O ngayon lang natin nalaman? Hmmm. Ang daming puwedeng gawin sa 1 Million Pesos. Sayang, maski di raw siya ang gumastos, e puwede naman sana niyang bawalin.
