Nakalimutan kong sabihin sa mga taga-PB na si Tita Che-Che nga pala ay nasa Australia. A-attend kasi siya ng conference dun e. Che, ikaw ba ang magsasalita?
Since may kamag-anak kami sa Aus, nagkita-kita sila over the weekend.

Hola Kuya, balik Singapore na ako. Yes Conference yun and I had to present a paper on... oh well masyadong seryoso at boring at di bagay dito sa blog haha. The better part of the conference ay may showing ng best Southeast Asian films in the evening at andun ang film makers -- nakapanood ako ng Indonesian at Thai films. Yung Independencia ni Raya Martin sayang di ko naabutan. So di ko alam na yun palang kakwentuhan ko over beer isang hapon sa conference ay artsy/Indonesian version ni Lino Brocka (may pic ako with him- Garin Nugroho)...
Then over the weekend met Tita Juling and Machelle and an Aussie friend at nilibre nila ako ng masarap na steak sa Hogs Breath, then toured the Parliament House and War Memorial. Canberra pala is the government and cultural capital of Australia. So ang attraction ay historical/political buildings at museums. Sa Canberra/Aus museum may special exhibit ng works ni Van Gogh, Gaugin, Cezanne, Monet -- from the Museum de Orsay sa Paris (under construction kasi). The exhibit is touring only Canberra, New York and Japan, so great na naabutan.
Meron din casino, but wala man lang slot machines. But in fairness ang daming tao at masarap/mura ang steak dun at ok ang live music.
Para sa mahilig sa politics at culture, ok ang Canberra. But sabi nila if you want beach and modernity and fun, go to Sydney -- kasabay ng weekend na yun ay ang Carnaval/Mardi Gras sa Sydney -- appartently next largest from Rio(na sayang at di ko napuntahan).
